Information on the Corporate Transparency Act

Beginning January 1, 2024, the Corporate Transparency Act will require most business entities to report information about their beneficial owners to the US Department of the Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report is a non-tax form that contains information about the company and two categories of individuals: the beneficial owners and company applicants.

A beneficial owner is an individual who directly or indirectly owns or controls a company.

A company created or registered to do business before January 1, 2024, will have until January 1, 2025, to file its BOI report. A company created or registered on or after January 1, 2024, will have 30 days to file its initial BOI report.
